Are You Ready for Some More Football?

Yep hard to believe but it is the end of the week again so that means it must be time for some more silly football game predictions. We have a full slate this week so let's get on with it.

I think I will start with the Detroit Lions they are playing the politically incorrect Washington Redskins this weekend. Normally this would be an easy pick to make because the Lions usually give up 21 points before they decide to put on the pads and play football. The Redskins have only lost twice this year while the Lions have yet to win a game. The Lions are starting a quarterback that has one total start under his belt in the NFL and the Washington Redskins have beaten both the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles on the road this year. Aw who am I kidding Redskins 38 Lions 6.

Let's talk about the big in state rivalry this weekend. No WMU and CMU played last week the rivalry I am talking about is Michigan State and Michigan. I say rivalry but let's be real here it is only a rivalry for MSU, remember little brother. This really isn't a rivalry for Michigan it just another game. Michigan biggest rivals are Ohio State and at times Notre Dame. These are schools with real football teams and real football traditions. Michigan State is basketball school that tolerates football while waiting for basketball season to start. This will be interesting this year only because I am waiting to see if MSU goes in the tank like they normally do after getting trashed by Ohio State. As bad as Michigan has been this year if MSU doesn't win this game they might as well close down Spartan stadium for the rest of the century and let the cows graze on the grass. This is MSU's best chance and probably their only chance to beat Michigan for the next several years. You see MSU is dominated by seniors and their best player, Ringer, is a senior. The pressure is clearly on MSU to win this game and we all know how MSU does when the pressure is on. I think MSU will get lucky, yes I did say lucky, and somehow beat Michigan this year. Final score will be 23 to 13. Enjoy it little brother it will be your last for awhile.

Notre Dame travels to the wet state of Washington this week to play the Washington Huskies. On paper this seems like a no brainer with Washington being 0-6 on the season and they have been blown out of most of the games they have played but we have a problem people. It seems Ty Willingham, the coach of the Huskies, once coached the Irish until they unceremoniously fired him and brought in some fat guy who knows where every buffet in the state of Indiana is located and replaced him. The only thing wrong with my theory is while Willingham will be fired up and ready his players won't be. You see they probably don't know where Notre Dame is or even care and most of the players probably don't even know Willingham coached at Notre Dame. This revenge game will only be played in Willingham's head. Notre Dame 45 Washington Puppy Dogs 17.

There you have it, my predictions. Bring on the ridicule, your arguments, and your biased opinions and see how you stack up with your predictions this week.

You're now entering the 'No Spin Zone'.

Charlie Weiss has had a less than stellar career thus far for Notre Dame. People said "give him time", well we've given him time to get his recruits in line, and guess what - less than impressive. The #1 quarterback recruit in the entire nation has done far less than dazzled under who is supposed to be the QB guru that shaped Tom Brady.

Next, MSU's football program is a losing tradition, and since my Grandmother doesn't leave comments on these blogs, I don't expect to get any fight on this subject.

Finally, I want to point out that CMU plays Toledo tomorrow (technically today since it's 12:32 AM) who beat Michigan this past Saturday. It will be interesting to see how this turns out, given the bashing on the MAC handed out by the owner of this blog early in the season.

I'm not sold on ND or Charlie Weiss as a head coach either. I don't think they have beat a team with a winning record yet. The rest of the season will be interesting for ND as they will play 4 pretty good teams. I wouldn't be surprised if they finish 6-6 this year.

As far a Mich bashing goes enjoy it for this year because come next year Mich will be vastly improved. Like I said all the pressure is on MSU today. If they don't win you are going to hear the largest scream from Lansing like you haven't heard in years. If they lose they will never shake the little brother title handed to them last year by Mike Hart.

If CMU loses to Toledo today it will set the program back to where they were at before Brain Kelly got there. Toledo is not a good football team. And yes I realize they beat Mich. Mich has possibly the worse offense in Div I football. CMU should blow out Toledo today.

i was so excited knowing i would be in st joe this weekend. i could finally see the lions. no go, it's blacked out. but sarah says she doesn't get the games anyway so i was excited for nothing anyway. this prediction is a no brainer. the lions will extend their streak.

mi/msu. if state is going to win this is the year. there is no better time for them to beat up the big brother and i expect them to show no mercy which will have the wolverines crying that they are running up the score. enjoy it, state, because michigan will be back. state by 15.

notre dame. i have to take exception to peej's comments. he was and is working with a very young line. almost all sophomores and freshmen. i don't care how good of a quarterback you are, if you don't have a line protecting you it will be ugly. i think they have shown great improvement this year. if mi can cry rebuilding so can we. notre dame wins.

i just saw your comment about hart. he was on wjr yesterday talking about the game. frank asked him about the little brother commnet. he says he heard it that week from msu and it had stuck in his head so when he was being interviewed it came to mind and he said it.

i thought it is a pretty accurate description of the relationship between the schools when it come to football.

Notre Dame has been rebuilding for 3 years now. If they finish 6-6 this year as I am predicting Charlie will be in trouble. He will get one more year but if he doesn't get them to at least of New Years bowl game next year he will be gone.

The little brother comment from Mike Hart is dead on accurate between the teams. I think that's what makes it so funny. Even if MSU wins today I don't think the little brother comment will go away anytime soon.

By the way Lee Corso just put the jinx to Michigan, he picked them to win on College Game Day. Desmond Howard (former Mich football player) and Kirk Herbstreet (former Ohio State quarterback) both picked MSU.

Notre Dame has been rebuilding for 8 or 9 years if I'm not mistaken...

I almost included OSU and PSU in my post. I am not a believer in Penn State they haven't played anybody yet. I know they beat Mich and Wisconsin but both of these teams were overrated. OSU hasn't been impressive either until last week when they beat a good MSU team. Since this game is in Columbus I will take Ohio State. Final score will be 31-24.

did you see i had predicted state by 15. they won by 14, can't get much closer than that.

looks like nd is going to coast this weekend. up by 17.

i am rooting for penn state, up by 3 as i write but that game could go either way.
