Since nobody ever came to Arlington to see where I lived I thought I would post a map of the area and point out a couple of points of interest.
Most of the map is of the Arlington Cemetery. Peej should of had this map the day he decided to take his walk. I checked the distance from our apartment to where he "claimed" he was by the Pentagon and it is just over two miles as the crow flies.
If you look at the tack marked Lincoln Memorial and then look right you will see the Washington Monument. Then to the right of that is the Washington Mall where the Smithsonian's are and then the Capital building.
To the right and down a little bit where it looks like a large pond of water is what they call the Tidal Basin. This is where the cherry blossom trees are in bloom in the spring.
It wasn't bad around here the Friday night I took this picture but on Saturday it reminded by of herding cows into the semi trailer the day they take the 4H animals from the county fair. It was so crowded we didn't get very far before we gave up.
Our most famous neighbors, George and Laura Bush, lived only 2-1/2 miles to the east of us. We used to walk over there and check out their yard when the secret service would let us. If something was happening on the lawns of the White House you were not allowed any where near the White House.
The bridge to the north (that's up for the people that are geographically challenged) leads to Georgetown. To the right of the bridge is Georgetown and to the left is Georgetown University. We used to walk over to Georgetown and frequent the restaurants there. One of my favorite pizza joints was over there, Uno's, the home of the deep dish pizza.
Enough for now latter I will dig up some more maps and photos for your enjoyment.

If you move back we plan on visiting. It has been a long time since we have been there.
We were there once for the cherry blossoms. Very pretty.
That was the trip that Sarah disappeared while we were busy looking at the White House. She was at least 50 feet away being held by a Japanese couple while they were having their picture taken in from of the White House. She was happy as a clam as these strangers who spoke no English held her. Where did we go wrong with her?!
We have been searching for rentals there lately. I looks like the rental rates are coming down to a more reasonable amount right now. We are hoping they drop down enough so we can afford a house or townhouse close to where we work.
The place where the wife worked is suppose to be getting her a job offer to come back if the next few days.
I am suppose to have a job offer coming from a company in Madison Wisconsin so when that one comes we are going to sit down and figure out where we are going to move too.
Right now we are not sure but I am pretty sure I won't be staying with the job I presently have.
I want to visit VA too! We loved it when we took Shae and Michael. And a trip for Miss K is in order. Steve and Ginny's Andrea (just over a year old) did the same thing as Sarah. Sat happily on some stranger's lap during a bus ride and that lady spoke no English. Crazy. Which reminds me of a funny story -- for another time.
If we go back I think we will end up living in Alexandria somewhere. Alexandria is about 5 miles to the south of the Pentagon. It is accessible via the Metro and seems to be about as easy as commute as there is in the DC area. Home prices seem to be more reasonable there too.
